D53 Update

The Metaverse promises us many things — decentralisation of power, the Creator Economy, online ownership and digital money.

However, it soon became uncertain who made money from the Metaverse and how.

A Metaverse for Everyone

District 53 lies in stark contrast with any of the existing “Metaverses”.

It’s free to access, free to play, free to build — AND players can earn rewards while playing it!

There are no mandatory NFTs, and no investment is required!

What is District 53?

District 53 is a voxel-based Metaverse game, forked from Minetest, with game mechanics similar to Minecraft while utilising the Solar (SXP) Blockchain. It is primarily coded in C++ and Lua — so both Minecraft and Roblox players would be familiar with its foundations.

District 53 combines the never-ending fun of Survival Mode with all the benefits of blockchain — from on-chain trading to play-and-earn events and mechanics.

Even though we are not yet free of all the barriers of crypto — especially the need to download the tymt Launcher and create a web3 address — we are doing everything to make the on-boarding process as smooth and intuitive as possible.

Our Metaverse will eventually become a sustainable world where people work, play, socialise, hang out, and make money.

Crafting the Metaverse

Most Metaverse solutions came with a very high price tag for creators.

To build anything in Decentraland — one had to spend thousands of dollars on Land and endless hours learning Blender.

In the Sandbox, most Land turned out to be marketing assets, sold for millions of dollars to people like Snoop, Steve Aoki, or Atari. This is why the world needs District 53 — an on-chain virtual world built by all its players out of blocks!

A world designed to be “Forever under construction”.

Most of you probably don’t know that most of the Main Server was built brick by brick by our Master Architect, with some help from a small Community.

But everyone, yourself included, can become creators of this new, persistent and immersive online world!

Ready Now

The Main Server is a fully functional, mineable, and craft-able immersive multiplayer online world. Anyone with a Solar Wallet can buy land and build on it for free!
The Creative Server is a free online creative sandbox where anyone can spend endless hours expressing their inner architect.
Capture the Flag is a special server which shows the possibility of creating a programmed Metaverse event. Hundreds of users register bi-weekly for the opportunity to fight and capture the enemy flag — and win SXP! Over 10K SXP is distributed every two weeks. Coming Soon

New, custom and debugged game and 3D engines. Irrlicht Engine — the original 3D engine of Minetest, is being forked specifically for D53. This will prepare the ground and ensure the proper functionality of the engine on all platforms, including mobile.
Mobile version. The door to the Metaverse has to be mobile, as most gamers worldwide already use their smartphones to access virtual worlds like Minecraft or Roblox. The adoption of Solar is driven largely by the Mobile Wallet, so the adoption of web3-based games will also depend on mobile.
Render optimisation, about +45 fps (in the “Official District53 — Main Server”) we ended up with 300 FPS! This will be crucial to ensure a smooth multiplayer experience during our events.
Multi-language support. As we are building the world’s most democratic Metaverse — we want to be able to reach all languages and countries — to invite everyone to play. In the future District 53 will be a multicultural, multi-language platform, with its own “Districts” — built and governed by its citizens.
Chain-agnostic login. Together with tymt — we are working to enable everyone to experience the benefits of Web3 gaming, without the complexity associated with crypto. Currently, creating a tymt profile automatically creates a Solar address — the on-chain login. Soon, users will be able to sign in with their chosen web2 profile — and manage all their web3 assets.
Events. We are gearing up for the biggest marketing event of the year — the infamous Egg Hunt, which promises a week of attractions, events, games, community fun — and of course — SXP rewards.
Features. New game-play, interface, and functionality are also in the pipeline.
